Annual Pikesville Thanksgiving Classic Soccer Tournament

Pikesville Thanksgiving Classic
Soccer Tournament
November 28 - 30, 2008
Featuring competition for both Boy's & Girl's teams
All games will take place in Pikesville, Maryland
The Thanksgiving Classic is an open tournament for all recreation,
CYO, club and school affiliated travel teams featuring competition
in the following FIFA single age brackets of Under 8 thru 14, and
double age brackets of U16 & 18 Depending on the size of registration
the tournament reserves the right to expand or combine age groups;
If registration permits, competition levels will be increased by
creating A and B competitive divisions.
The tournament features an open draw, round-robin format with all
teams being guaranteed 3 games with additional single elimination
and championship games where applicable. The 1st and 2nd place teams
in all divisions will receive both team and individual awards.
The registration fee is $275. Registration does not include referee
fees which are payable on the field prior to each of your games.
There is a roster maximum of 14 players for 8v8 competition (Ages
8 thru 12) and 18 players for 11v11 competition (Ages 12 thru 18).
Due to the post season date of the event, teams are allowed to add
guest players
from their competitive level of play during the season.
The guaranteed registration deadline is November 12th Thanksgiving

Fall2008 Soccer Registration
Co-ed teams, 2-year age groups of U8, U10, U12, and possibly girls
teams in U10 and U12. A minimum roster of nine are registered for
two teams in this age group.
Age Groups
U8 - D.O.B. after 7/31/2000
U10 - D.O.B. after 7/31/1998
U12 - D.O.B. after 7?31/1996
Players can play up an age group, but cannot play in a younger age
group. U8 and U10 teams play 7 vs. 7. U12 teams play 8 vs. 8. If
we have enough interest, we will put together a team of 14 players
for a U14 co-ed team (Maximum of 21 players.) Maximum roster for
any other team is 14. We will maintain a list of players after the
1st 14 registrants.
Rosters will be submitted to "FCYSL" by July 22nd. New
players can be added before the 2nd game, up-to the maximum roster
limit, but not to the point of forming new teams.
A U6 Clinic
If we get 9-12 players (Year of Birth - 2002 and 2003) I will direct
a U6 clinic. Practices are Mondays and Thursdays 4:30 p.m. - 5:30
p.m. with five Saturday in-house games, 4 vs. 4 with no goalee.
Registration is $35 a person. This includes a team shirt and soccer
socks. Shin guards are required.

Jim reported the season ended last weekend
and LRC is not hosting a tournament. The pictures and plaques have
been handed out. Joe will collect the uniforms.

Jim reported for Joe that the teams have
been playing games. The pictures are being taken tonight. Joe was
asked if we can host a tournament the 2nd weekend of November.

MINUTES FROM AUGUST 7, 2008
Jim reported for Joe that the U6, U8 and U10 need more players.
Courtney stated that he has had problems contacting Joe. He knew
of some kids who wanted to sign up and he had tried to reach Joe
a few times. Brenda also reported that someone had called her because
of their interest in signing up some kids as well. Courtney reported
that Joe had wanted to put some information on the website that
had not been presented at a meeting. It was stated at this meeting
that Courtney needs to see all information that is to be put on
the website. The athletic director and commissioners have a right
to email the designer for scheduling of any teams’ activities.
All other articles/activities must be reviewed and approved by the
president to be put on the website.

MINUTES FROM JUNE 5, 2008
Joe reported that the season ends this weekend. The trophy presentation
for soccer only will be on June 14 combined with fall registration
from 3-7 pm at the park. Joe said the teams must be formed by July
21.

Jim reported that the season is underway
and there are 1 or 2 games every Saturday.

Joe reported that there are 3 teams
and games begin this weekend. He said he could use a couple of more
players. He asked that we get new soccer goals for next season.
Joe and Jim will meet soon to order some more goals.

Jim reported that a few more kids signed
up. Joe will begin practice the Monday after Easter. Games begin
the first weekend in April.

Joe reported 23 kids signed up. There
will be 3 teams—U-8, U-10 and U-12. There was not enough interest
for U-6.

MINUTES FROM DECEMBER 13, 2007
Joe couldn't make the rescheduled meeting
but E-mailed Jim with the report. For the newsletter he wants to
list co-ed teams forming for the spring. They are U-8, U-10, and
U-12 age groups. U-10 and U-12 girl's teams will be formed if we
have enough players to form them. There needs to be 9 players per
team. A U-6 co-ed clinic will be offered if we have at least 7 registrants.
Price will be $35.00. Practices will be Monday and Thursday. There
will be five in house Saturday games. LRC team t-shirts.

for their tournament this weekend. He has parents lined up to work
the concession stand.
