ABOUT
LIBERTYTOWN RECREATION COUNCIL
In August of 1989 the Libertytown Recreation
Council (LRC) was formed by a group of citizens concerned that there
were not enough sports programs in the immediate area. Officers were
elected and sports programs were initiated. In October 1989 the LRC
joined The Frederick Country Parks and Recreation Association of Recreation
Councils. The association meets 3 times a year and gets guidance and
coordination from the Frederick Country Parks and Recreation.
Since our beginnings, the LRC has offered sanctioned programs such
as Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth baseball and has joined some local programs
in soccer and basketball to enhance competition. The LRC meets on
the first Thursday of every month in the upstairs of the St. Peters
Catholic Church Thrift Shop at 12060 Main Street, Libertytown (parking
in rear off of North Street). The LRC is a small program compared
to some, but never turns down any child based on sports ability. All
are welcome here and we hope to see your child soon!
